Do I need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral to make a booking. Sometimes, referrals are helpful because they give us a little bit more information about your child. Medicare referrals from your GP can also give you access to a rebate from Medicare towards the cost of your appointment. It is best to discuss your eligibility for a Medicare referral with your GP.
Where are you based?
We have three face to face clinics - Sunshine Coast, Mater and Shorncliffe. We also offer telehealth and telephone services to families from across Queensland. We offer home visits in some circumstances.
How long are the appointments?
Generally 60-75 minutes for an initial consultation and 45-60mins for a review consultation.
Do you offer Telehealth sessions?
Yes, we also offer a hybrid model where we combine face to face and telehealth and alternate between the two. Some families we see face to face over school holidays and telehealth during school terms. We are happy to work around you and your family.
Do you always provide reports?
No! We will only provide therapy reports if and when they are requested or needed. We don’t believe in ‘over-servicing’ or ‘over-charging’ when it is unnecessary. We always discuss costs of reports with families prior to commencing them so you are aware of the costs and expected time that it will take to complete these.
What are the funding options?
Our fees are competitive and when compared with other specialist paediatric clinics, generally lower than most services. We are a private billing practice and unfortunately, cannot afford to bulk bill. The Medicare rebate for dietitians sits at $58.30 and this does not cover the costs of running our business, our staff, resources, professional development, insurances and our leases. Some practices may offer this, but generally their consults are only 20mins long and will not be provided by a senior paediatric dietitian. All of our consults are eligible for private health rebates and we accept NDIS clients that are Plan managed or Self-managed.
What is your cancellation policy?
We appreciate 24hrs notice for cancellations. Less than 24hrs, except in emergency situations, can attract a cancellation fee of 50% of the total cost of the missed appointment. If a client does not call or show up for their appointment, our fee will be the 100% of the total cost of the missed appointment. For repeated cancellations and no shows, we reserve the right to not rebook clients and will discharge them from our service.
We have a firm policy on no shows and late cancellations as we have a waitlist of families waiting to access sooner appointments and continue to have overheads and costs when a family does not turn up or cancels with less than 24 hours notice. This policy allows us to ensure families have quicker access to appointments and also ensures we can keep our fee's lower which allows more families the capacity to access our specialist service.
